Sociocracy (Dynamic Governance) - 2 day workshop in Scotland with international trainer John Buck
Sociocracy (Dynamic Governance) is a powerful organisational tool for living and working together.
28 & 29 May: 2-day training workshop at Newbold House
PLUS – NEW FOR 2014! 30 May: 1- day, fully supported practice group (if you attend this day only, previous knowledge of Sociocracy is required).
The 2-day course is perfect for newcomers to Sociocracy - but also a fantastic opportunity for those already trained to enrich and hone their use of these tools.
The new day three offers a perfect add-on for those on the two-day workshop and is a good option for those restricted by budget and time, but have previous Sociocracy training.
- Sociocracy is a decision-making and governance method that allows an organisation to manage itself efficiently and dynamically while incorporating the wisdom of every member.
- Sociocracy invites participation, inspires leadership and allows an organisation to flourish in a changing environment.
- Sociocracy is For all: innovative businesses, co-housing groups, educational bodies, community groups and non-profit organisations.
- Sociocracy isn’t a NEW way to run your business or organisation...it is designed to operate ALONGSIDE current structures, improving what you already have!
Traditional business structural paradigms generate stress and inefficiency. Many co-housing and non-profits struggle with consensus decision making and role-improvement feedback. Sociocracy serves all groups in need of a governing system that is elegant, equivalent, transparent and effective.
If you’ve ever sat in meetings or reviews thinking the following, Sociocracy is for you and your organisation...
‘Why is the responsibility for all these issues in our co-housing group *always* falling to me? How can I encourage others to want to take it on?’
Am I the only one in this company who thinks this will never change, that’s there’s no innovation and that meetings just end up in orders from the top down? Can there be creativity without losing order and productivity?
I have taken over managing this enterprise and I know that the worker on the floor has relevant and important views...but how to make that link and make that link work?
That person in our group is forever disagreeing! How can I see that what they are bringing is important, make the most of their voice and get decisions made?!’
Sociocracy isn’t just about efficient decision making. This workshop will provide you with the tools for:
- Electing for roles
- forming proposals
- role improvement feedback
- encouraging deep democracy
- creative solutions
- ’both/and’ rather than ‘either/or’ thinking.
How can Sociocracy work for YOUR orgnaisation? John is happy to consult with you before signing up. Contact the Newbold office office@newboldhouse.org for a skype appointment.
John Buck, is an expert in Sociocracy (also called “Dynamic Governance”), co-author of We the People — Consenting to a Deeper Democracy: A Guide to Sociocratic Principles and Methods, and CEO of the Sociocracy Consulting Group (www.sociocracyconsulting.com). He excels in teaching this powerfully effective organisational and decision making system, whether for large, industrial corporations, local nonprofits or religious groups, ....or something in-between.
John is brimming with techniques that ‘mindful managers and governance entrepreneurs’ have been crying out for. He argues that the traditional business structural paradigms actually generate stress and inefficiency. Yet he also recognises their strengths – hence Sociocracy’s ability to make the most of what you already have...and make it better. John’s process works for small, local concerns as well as large corporations.
John will be assisted by Jane Hera and Arianne Burgess
